The X International Astronomy
Olympiad (Beijing 2005)

The X international astronomy Olympiad was held successful in
Beijing during October 25-November 1, 2005. This competition has been held in
European for nine times, so it is the first time held in Asia. There were120
people to attend this competition from eighteen countries and areas include
competitors, team leaders and observers. This competition is front for the
Euro-Asian Astronomical Society, and was hosted by Beijing Planetarium, with the
supports of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), The National
Astronomical Observatories, China astronomical Society, Beijing Normal
University, and so on. During this time, XIAO committee arranged tours to
Xinglong Observatory and Huairou Solar Observing Station, Beijing Ancient
Observatory, Forbidden City, Great wall and some other places.
There are
fourteen students won the first prizes in this Olympiad, Mehul Jain, Udbhav
Singh, Abhishek Dang, Ralph Silva, Viraj Deshpande from India, Dong Jing from
China, YangYi, Huang Chenliang from Beijing, Azadeh Fatahisavadjani from Iran,
Taak Yoonchan, Jang Wonseok, From Korea, Andrey Popov from Moscow Land, Felipe
Ferreira Villar Coelho from Brazil, Ignat Ganchev Kalinov from Bulgaria
